A little while ago we had a chance to meet a Dog Mom on Instagram that has a Doxie (Dachshund) that was diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disk Disease) and just like our Dash, her pup lives life as a wheelie dog. Since then, we've been researching IVDD and found that this disease or condition is common with Dachshunds. So we took our original Disability Awareness Pet Tag and made a version for Doxie's.
Help us in our effort to raise awareness for EXTRA SPECIAL furbabies with special needs. Epileptic , Diabetic, Neurological, Hearing impaired, Blind.... We can customize this tag with your pet’s special needs. We can even customize the back with important handling instructions or indicate medications needed or your Vets name and number.
In the event of separation or emergencies, give your pet the best chance of getting the proper care needed. This tag could better assist someone in recognizing your baby need that special attention.
Most of you already know that out Dash battled Canine Epilepsy, but on top of that, in early 2017 our lives suddenly changed dramatically. Our sweet Dash suddenly lost his ability to walk. With the mountain of vet bills he had, unfortunately we could not afford a wheelchair for him at the time. We didn’t let that stop us. We were determined to give him back his ABILITY over his disability. Mama researched DIY options and reached out to our friends for tips on building a wheelchair. Once we settled on a design concept we went to our local hardware store and picked up the necessary supplies and BUILT him a customized PVC wheelchair from the ground up .
It was Dad’s first real custom built anything and Dash laid by and watched in amazement as his new wheels came together. After a bit of trial and error, it was ready for Dash to get it and take it for a spin.
This design is OUR ORIGINAL DESIGN it is inspired by a combination of the Disabled Parking Placards and based off of Dash in his wheelchair.
